Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. The most famous of her works is her role in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain as well as having the role of lead singer in Apollonia 6, a girl group. It was among the many female artists who benefited from Prince's collaboration during the 1980s. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as a model and actress. Through the end of the 70s she was a guest on CHiPS. In 1984 she landed the female lead for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer made a change to her name) as well as replacing Vanity as part of the female-led trio Vanity 6 who performed on the screen under the title Apollonia 6. The three scored a minor hit with Sex Shooter but it was with Prince's duet partner on Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she had an impact on the charts. Kotero split from Prince following their falling apart over her future work. Her appearances in smaller films (reportedly having a hard time being on the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon) but she was not landing the role in the film Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia dropped her first album in 1988. However, it was a fairly pedestrian mix of dance and R&B music that didn't impress people. The album soon vanished from view. The actress continued to perform (if she was a little under the under the radar) by playing small television performances, a few films, and a workout DVD. In 1997, Apollonia released a Spanish/English album named Stay with Me. In later years, after returning to school and receiving her degree in filmmaking, she established her own production firm. Apollonia wears many different hats. Her roles include singer, model and Talent agent. As an actress she is known for her character in the 1984 film Purple Rain. Her other films and television shows includes Black Magic Woman, The Divorce Ceremony as well as many more. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She took part in various events and contests.
